Ashley Graham is channeling her inner Barbie girl [2]. On Feb. 23, the model attended the Etro show at Milan Fashion Week [3] wearing a trendy french manicure [4], sultry eye makeup with an inner-corner pop [5] of color, and a fabulous orange-fur coat. The cherry on top of the already head-turning look? Her fun, retro Barbie ponytail [6] created by hairstylist Mashal Afzalzada [7].
But this was no average Barbie ponytail: Graham's hair was pulled into a half-up-half-down style [8] with the lower half of her hair flowing over her shoulders. The top half was slicked back into a sleek ponytail [9] with the ends flipped outward [10] for a Barbie-inspired twist. To top it all off, Graham added side-swept bangs [11], which were sculpted with gel and pinned back into her ponytail.
The Barbie ponytail has been a cultural mainstay since the '60s but has recently seen an uptick in popularity thanks to the upcoming "Barbie" movie [12] starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling [13]. Trendy hairstyle aside, the movie has sparked an entire Barbiecore trend, with the color pink taking over everything from clothing to hair. With the movie's official premiere still a few months away, there's plenty of time to hone your own Barbiecore aesthetic. Whether you want to tread lightly with some pink nails [14] or fully dye your hair the bubble-gum hue, you'll be perfectly on-trend. Take a closer look at Graham's hair below.
