64 Beauty Brands Taking a Stand Against Antiabortion Laws
On June 24, in a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court effectively overturned Roe v. Wade, ruling that the constitutional right to an abortion will be left up to individual states. In the weeks prior to the motion, several beauty brands came together to take a stand. Today, more than 60 beauty and wellness brands have joined forces with Don't Ban Equality, the largest network of businesses supporting reproductive rights and comprehensive healthcare, including abortion.
Created in 2019, the Don't Ban Equality initiative includes hundreds of companies that stand together against policies that limit people's independence and their ability to make their own personal health decisions, including this latest court decision to uphold Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban. As access to a safe abortion is threatened once more, these beauty and wellness companies are making their stances clear by cosigning Don't Ban Equality's public statement: "There is no equality without access to comprehensive reproductive health care."
"With the impending decision of the Supreme Court set to impact reproductive rights, it was imperative for us to pledge our support for Don't Ban Equality," says Kara Brothers, president and general manager of Starface. "Teens and young adults are a huge part of our demographic, and we are committed to creating a world where everyone feels safe and supported to make decisions surrounding their reproductive health."
