Best Bronzer:
Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Devinie Bronzer ($39)
"Make no mistake, I use bronzer all year round, but in the summertime, I pretty much dust it all over my entire face like a powder foundation for a sun-kissed glow. As we enter the warmer months, the new Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Devinie Bronzer was introduced to me just in time. The velvety powder has a demi-matte finish with subtle pearly pigments for a super natural look. I love how easily it blends, making it mistake-proof. I put it on my cheeks, forehead, jawline, and eyelids — as I said, all over." — Jessica Harrington, editor, beauty
Best Liquid Lipstick:
Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink ($10, originally $13)
"What do you get when you combine a delicious neutral lip color, a long-lasting formula, and an affordable price tag? This Maybelline product. The shade Captivated is hands down my favorite from the brand's Vinyl Ink line, and when I say it doesn't transfer, you'll just have to believe me. This product almost feels too good to be true, but the proof is in the pudding." — Ariel Baker, assistant beauty editor
Best Contour Stick:
Milk Makeup Sculpt Cream Contour Stick ($24)
"My girlfriend effectively steals this bronzer straight out of my cosmetics bag every single time I use it, and I now have to keep hiding it from her. I can understand why, of course: not only is the packaging cute and bite-size (perfect for overnight trips or when you're rushing from one place to another), but the tiny packaging also makes the act of contouring a lot less intimidating, for which I am forever grateful." — Kelsey Castañon, beauty director
Best Brow Wax:
Benefit Cosmetics Fluff Up Brow Flexible Brow-Texturizing Wax ($26)
"Out of all steps in my makeup routine, I'm endlessly lazy when it comes to my brows. (Cara Delevingne, I am not.) Most days I can't be bothered to do anything to them, which is why even I was surprised that this brow gel has become the best beauty discovery I've made in months. Unlike most brow pencils, stencils, or powders that require precision — and frankly, a few f*cks to give, which I don't have — this is a clear, flexible pomade that creates a feathery (read: natural) look with zero flakes. Plus, once you set the style, it does not budge all day; that means you could layer it on top of other brow products to keep them in place if you're into that sort of thing, or you could be like me and use on its own." — KC
"My go-to brow products usually come from Benefit, and the brand's new Fluff Up Brow Wax quickly made it to my list of favorite new products this month. It keeps my brows in place all day without leaving them crunchy. It works well on its own, but it's also perfect for layering over my favorite brow pencils." — Renee Rodriguez, staff writer and social producer
Best Powder Foundation:
Maybelline New York Super Stay Up to 24HR Hybrid Powder-Foundation ($11, originally $15)
"Maybelline's products always impress me, and this is no exception. I'm admittedly not a huge powder foundation girl (I have dry skin, which typically doesn't mix well) but this new formula played nicely with my complexion in more ways than one. It didn't leave my face feeling like a desert or cake-y after wearing it for hours, and though it has a matte finish, it still looks like your skin but with a soft focus filter. It's available in 16 shades and offers medium-to-full coverage that can be applied all over or, if you're like me, used to spot target certain areas only where I want it." — JH
Best Lip Oil:
Ami Cole Lip Treatment Oil ($20)
"Ami Cole recently released a gift set of popular lip oils that feature two new shades: Bliss and Reflection. It comes in a chic gift box that makes it perfect for gifting but to be completely honest, I am absolutely keeping them all for myself. The formula is glossy without being sticky and is deeply hydrating thanks to camellia oil in the ingredient list. These new colors have once again made this oil creep back onto my favorite-lip gloss-formulas-of-all-time list." — AB
Best Powder Highlighter:
Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Highlighting Powder in Pink Glow ($52)
"Bobbi Brown Cosmetics partnered with celebrity jewelry designer Stephanie Gottlieb to create a stunning limited-edition collection. The line features some of the brand's best sellers but with new shades and jewel-inspired packaging, like this highlighter. The formula itself is a hybrid between a gel and a powder, leaving your skin with a lit-from-within glow. It glides on effortlessly, doesn't disrupt your other face products underneath it, and catches the light beautifully." — JH
Best Undereye Brightener:
Rare Beauty Positive Light Under Eye Brightener ($24)
"This eye brightener actually looks really beautiful under my eyes, and I wasn't expecting it to. I tend to avoid putting too much product in the area because it already lacks quite a bit of volume, so piling makeup on tends to make it look worse. This almost felt like a tinted eye cream that gave me that first layer of concealer, therefore allowing me to use less product. The metal tip also felt extra cooling in the mornings." — AB
Best Lengthening Mascara:
L'Oréal Telescopic Lift Washable Mascara ($12, originally $15)
"This new mascara is actually incredible and makes my lashes look long and fluttery, and while the Telescopic line is known for its lengthening capabilities, this mascara actually also gave me quite a bit of volume. I love a good drugstore makeup find." — AB
Best Sunscreen Face Mist:
Vacation Super Spritz SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Mist ($24)
"I love everything that Vacation does, and the new Vacation Super Spritz SPF 50 Face Mist is no exception. I live in LA and am constantly in the sun; I'm also very active, meaning I need to reapply my SPF a lot throughout the day. The Super Spritz is clutch for those on-the-go moments — I keep one in my car and one in my bag. It smells great, sinks in quickly without a sticky residue, won't mess up your makeup, is water-resistant for a whopping 80 minutes, and is dermatologist tested and approved." — Aviel Kanter, director, branded content
Best Gel-Cream Moisturizer:
Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Smooth Sip Lightweight Gel-Cream Moisturizer ($44)
"This gel-cream moisturizer is simple yet so good. It's lightweight but still hydrating, and it absorbs quickly, leaving behind plump, supple skin. It's also not the least bit greasy or sticky, which can occasionally be the case with gel creams. My boyfriend has also fallen in love with it (and stolen it for himself), dubbing it the perfect moisturizer." — JH
Best Cleanser:
Orpheus Resurrection Serum Slip Cleanser ($58)
"This cleanser feels like heaven on the face. There's no other way to describe it. It's silky and smooth but foams up nicely when introduced with water. It also smells incredibly calming. I'm actually on the verge of finishing the bottle and I am not OK." — AB
Best At-Home Peel:
Shani Darden Triple Acid Signature Peel ($125)
"Full transparency: I treat at-home peels like I would someone wearing a Michael Myers costume, which is to say very cautiously. So when I heard about this peel, my initial feeling was fear. It wasn't completely unwarranted, either, because the chemical exfoliation you get is no joke. (It does still when you first apply the peel itself in step one, and then again when you apply the neutralizing clay mask in step two.) That said, the next-level glow that comes once you rinse it off after 10 minutes lasts for days. It's worth all the initial spooks." — KC
"In a perfect world, I'd get a facial every week, but that's sadly not always possible. That's why the Triple Acid Signature Peel is such a game-changer. The mask contains a blend of glycolic, lactic, and mandelic acids to help brighten and smooth skin. Additionally, kaolin and bentonite clay clear pores of dirt and oil to prevent breakouts. The process is two steps and only takes 10 minutes in total. I love that it is gentle enough to use up to twice a month and has zero downtime. After using it, my skin looks super radiant." — JH
Best Mineral Sunscreen:
Supergoop! Daily Dose Bioretinol + Mineral SPF 40 Fluid ($46)
"Wearing sunscreen every day, rain or shine, indoors or outdoors, is very important to me. And though I see sunscreen as a worthy investment for the sun protection element alone when a formula also boosts additional skin-care benefits, it makes me all the more excited to try it. This a perfect example of a multitasking SPF. It contains SPF 40 protection, plus bakuchiol (a gentler, plant-derived retinol alternative) to improve signs of aging like dark spots and fine lines. The formula has a light universal tint and goes on super silky with a matte finish. It's a dream." — JH
Best Anti-Aging Serum:
Tatcha The Silk Serum ($98)
"Despite my job as a beauty editor, I'm a skin-care minimalist. I rarely use products outside of the necessary cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. That said, Tatcha's new The Silk Serum may have convinced me to add a step to my routine. It's packed with antioxidant-rich cranberry extract to target dullness, which, in combination with sea fennel, also helps soften lines. I've only been using it for two weeks so far, but I'm already loving the glowy results." — KC
Best Lip Mask:
Fenty Skin Plush Puddin' Intensive Recovery Lip Mask ($22)
"Another day, another chance for a lip balm to get a coveted spot on my nightstand. This month, this is the one that made the cut thanks to its deeply hydrating formula and absolutely adorable packaging. It doesn't take up much space on my admittedly crowded bedside table, and I don't have to dip my fingers into a pot thanks to the twist-up wheel on the bottom. When I wake my lips are soft, pillowy, and still have a slight shine from the night before, which I love." — AB
Best Smart Hair Dryer:
T3 Featherweight StyleMax Dryer ($200)
"I know what you're thinking: it's a hair dryer, what makes it so special? Well, let me tell you. This is no ordinary blowdryer. No, it features smart technology that helps it adapt to your hair type with a simple push of a button. When you turn it on, you program it with your hair's density — selecting, thin, medium, or thick — and styling goals. Then it changes the heat styling temperature automatically. If you're guilty of frying your hair, you need this. It's pretty neat." — JH
Best Charcoal Shampoo:
Garnier Whole Blends Black Charcoal Rebalancing Shampoo ($5)
"Charcoal had its moment in the beauty spotlight years ago for its ability to draw out impurities in the skin, and now you can get the same benefits for your scalp with this shampoo. Considering my hair is basically a graveyard for dry shampoo, I definitely need the deep clean come wash day, but my brittle ends can't exactly handle the drying astringents often found in most 'detox' sudsers. This option from Garnier provides the best of both worlds: charcoal works to remove dirt and grime, while oils from the Nigella sativa plant hydrate and strengthen. My hair is softer and healthier, which is really all anyone can ask for to kick off the new year." — KC
Best Hair Dryer:
Pattern Beauty Hair Dryer ($189)
"This new hair dryer is fire, and it has a lot to do with the attachments. The comb attachment is wide enough to blow-dry the length of my small knotless braids and concentrated enough to also get the roots without hassle. While the attachments themselves get hot, the body of the dryer does not, meaning you can hold the nozzle comfortably without burning yourself. If you want a finer comb through, you can use the brush attachment." — AB
Best Hydrating Shampoo:
Gisou Honey Infused Hair Wash Shampoo ($37)
"I'm a big fan of Gisou hair products, especially its newly updated shampoo formula. The brand was created by influencer Negin Mirsalehi, and the products are made with honey from her family's bee garden. The shampoo smells amazing, keeps my hair looking bouncy and fresh, and leaves it feeling silky smooth." — RR
Best Ingrown-Hair Microdart Patch:
Fur Ingrown Microdart Patch ($28)
"I swear by pimple patches, so the idea of using something similar on ingrown hairs just makes sense. Fur has been working on this for years, and it shows. This patch contains salicylic acid to clear pores, hyaluronic acid for hydration, cica for inflammation, and licorice root to fade hyperpigmentation — the result is a patch that helps to resolve deep, painful ingrown hairs anywhere on the body. Simply apply it before bed, and the extra-strong adhesive will keep it in place for hours while it works its magic." — JH
Best In-Shower Body Moisturizer:
Hanni Splash Salve ($34)
"I'm one of those people who have to take a shower every day in order to feel like I'm alive. Meaning, if I'm not careful, my skin can start feeling a little stripped. This is the easy, in-shower solution to all my dry-skin problems. It's a buttery balm-meets-oil that you apply directly to your wet skin in the shower after you've shaved and cleansed. No need to scrub it off; when you get out of the shower, pat yourself dry, and you'll find you don't even need to put on lotion. It's just that nourishing." — AK
Best Body Oil:
Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Firmeza Body Oil ($52)
"There's no body moisturizer quite as recognizable as Sol de Janeiro's Bum Bum cream, which is why you can now scoop up the creamy caramel and pistachio scent in scrub, fragrance mist, and body wash form. For anyone with extra dry skin (or who just likes to feel silky soft year-round), it's now taking on new life in body oil form with the this oil. I should preface: I'm not usually a body oil person, but after first discovering it during a lymphatic drainage massage with Camila Perez, it might have just made me a believer. The formula is spiked with guaraná caffeine to stimulate circulation and Brazilian olive oil to pump the skin with moisture, but more importantly for me, it doesn't feel slippy and absorbs in seconds — no greasy transfer to your clothes or bedsheets." — KC
Best Body Gel:
Chanel Pearly Body Gel ($100)
"Now for the sparkle and shine that I love especially on a special occasion, like my birthday: the Chanel Pearly Body Gel has been my go-to for the past month. Not only does it make me look like I just got off the set of an editorial photo shoot, but it smells divine. Have I used this in place of perfume before? Yes. Could anyone tell? No. Sounds like multifunctional beauty to me." — AB
Best Sanitizer Mist:
Touchland Smiley Mango Passion Sanitizer Mist ($10)
"What do you get when you mix my favorite fruit (mangoes) and my favorite hand sanitizers? This amazing product. This new version of the sanitizer has all of my favorite qualities of the regular Touchland products with a scent that is extremely nostalgic to me. It has been on the go with me in every single one of my purses." — AB
Best Nail Polish:
Essie Nail Polish in Cream Green New Winter ($10)
"I'm not much of a manicure person (I can blame my atrocious nail-biting habit for that) but I do love a fun and festive color for my toes now and again. My latest pedicure polish of choice? The this shade from the brand's (Un)guilty Pleasures collection. It's the perfect winter shade: darker than your average green but rich in tone — and way more fun." — KC
Best Perfume:
Ex Nihilo Idle Hour ($355)
"This is winter in a fragrance. Notes of pink pepper, ylang-ylang, and cedarwood give it an almost unisex quality — my boyfriend has, in fact, asked me what it is so he can wear it on numerous occasions — and it dries down to this sweet, smoky scent that has gotten me non-stop compliments. I usually switch out my fragrance every day because I get tired of the same smell but this has been the only perfume I've been wearing for the past few weeks. It never gets old." — AB
Best Candle:
Henry Rose Windows Down Candle ($65)
"I just moved into a new apartment, and I've been on a mission to make it as cozy as possible. I've been relying on candles to get the vibe right, and this has been the perfect addition to my new home. It's made with soy and vegetable waxes and a 100 percent cotton wick, and the grapefruit and floral finish is divine." — RR
Best Room Fragrance:
Homecourt Room Deodorant ($45)
"I have a toddler at home, and that means my house is filled with unusual smells of questionable origin. Homecourt Room Deodorant was made for me — and anyone else with this predicament. It has zinc and charcoal to neutralize odors, and the beautiful fragrances last a long time without being overpowering." — Dawn Davis, executive director, beauty
