Fans of John B's — we mean Chase Stokes [2]'s — long, flowing hair, you may want to sit down. On Sept. 23, the "Outer Banks" actor shared his first Instagram post [3] since turning 30 last week, and his signature curls have been shaven to a buzz cut [4].
In the mirror selfie, Stokes runs his hand over his super-short haircut but makes no mention of the major transformation in the caption. Instead, he writes "30?" and leaves it at that — a man of few words. Fans and friends alike were quick to flood the comment section with things like "WHERE'S YOUR HAIR?????" and "JOHN B HAIR IS OVER??," while Lana Candor gave her support with a comment that reads "And thriving."
Buzz cuts have been a popular choice recently for stars looking to make a change for fall. In August, Maisie Williams brought back her iconic buzz cut [5], Doja Cat shaved her head on Instagram Live [6] for everyone to see, and Ireland Baldwin made a case for "doing things that scare you" by shaving her head [7]. But possibly most notable of all, Jason Momoa buzzed off part of his signature shoulder-length hair [8] for a good cause on Sept. 6, sparking a similar reaction to the one Stokes's freshly-shaven head got: immediate heartbreak from fans everywhere.
