Dove Cameron [1] looks amazing in the new pin-up-inspired hairstyle [2] she debuted on Instagram [3] on Sept. 3. The singer and actor posted a carousel showing off her new hair, which featured short, blunt bangs [4] that hit right above her eyebrows. With her dark hair, Cameron's dramatic style [5] draws to mind pin-up icons such as Bettie Page, who popularized the rounded rockabilly fringe style back in the 1950s. Although Cameron's take is slightly sharper and edgier, it still carries the retro allure and sensuality the classic pin-up girls were so famous for back in the day. "[W]e can talk about it in the morning," Cameron captioned the Instagram post.
Although her pin-up rendition is definitely unique, Cameron is not the first celebrity to bring back micro bangs [6]. Bella Hadid also chose a similar style [7], recently wearing baby bangs [8] and a slicked-back ponytail for a birthday-party look in New York City. Even Kourtney Kardashian Barker [9] has gotten in on the trend, experimenting with the same kind of short, choppy bangs for a more grungy-glam (albeit temporary) type of aesthetic. Whether celebs fully commit to the trend, these short bangs definitely have a way of making its wearers feel sexy, powerful, and downright badass.
