Dua Lipa is leaning into the '70s aesthetic. The "Levitating" singer showed off her latest manicure on Instagram, and the chrome, orange, and red tips by celebrity manicurist Kim Truong [2] instantly brought lava lamps to mind.
This isn't Lipa's first time rocking a retro manicure. Back in December, she shared a few pictures from her vacation in St. Barts (where she also performed at the LuisaViaRoma x UNICEF gala), and we couldn't help but notice the detail on her nails. Lipa stayed true to her signature almond shape but took a nostalgic approach with her manicure design. Using a silver-chrome base color, the star added a textured droplet design to her nails that mimicked the globular shape of the lava inside a lava lamp. The "lava" was painted in a green multichrome that shifts to magenta in different lighting, giving a "Future Nostalgia" spin to the design.
The singer is known for having fun with her nail art [3] — she's tried everything from crystal French tips [4] to animal-print designs [5]. She's also a huge '70s fan, with many of her fashion and beauty choices mimicking styles from the era [6]. While we're not sure if we can look as good as she does in '70s fashion, nails feel like a pretty safe place to start. Take a closer look at both of Lipa's lava-lamp nail designs ahead.
