Glossier is taking monetary action to aid the Black community amid nationwide protests in response to the death of George Floyd [1] and police brutality. On Saturday, the beauty brand announced it would donate $500,000 "across organizations focused on combating racial injustice" and $500,000 worth of grants to Black-owned beauty businesses. Glossier is one of the first brands to make such a donation.

"We stand in solidarity with the fight against systemic racism, white supremacy, and the historic oppression of the Black community," Glossier's statement reads. "Black Lives Matter."

The brand's donation will go toward Black Lives Matter [2], the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund [3], the Equal Justice Initiative [4], the Marsha P. Johnson Institute [5], and We the Protesters [6]. "We're inspired by so many people in our community who are using their voices and making change," Glossier added. "We see you and are with you." Glossier also shared petitions seeking justice for Floyd [7], Tony McDade [8], and Breonna Taylor [9] in their Instagram Stories.
