Gwyneth Paltrow Thought Hailey Bieber's Glazing Serum "Sounded Sexual"

Gwyneth Paltrow has questions about the glazed-doughnut trend [1]. For those similarly unacquainted, the term refers to the slicked sheen one's skin might have after layering various hydrating serums and moisturizers. (Nam Vo coined "dewy dumplings," [2] which is the makeup equivalent.) Hailey Bieber was an early adopter, and she used actual doughnuts in campaign imagery for her new Rhode beauty brand [3]. It's also the inspiration behind the line's Peptide Glazing Fluid [4] ($29).

Paltrow, of course, assumed it was something sexual. The actor and wellness mogul recently appeared in the latest installment of Bieber's "Who's in My Bathroom?" interview series on YouTube. In addition to sharing her own Goop-filled routine [5], Paltrow probed Bieber about her Rhode products. Her main question: "Glazing fluid? [6] What are you glazing?"

"What are you glazing?"

"I know you're curious about this glazed-doughnut concept," Bieber diplomatically explained. "I didn't come up with this concept. This is something that has always been in the skin-care world. For me, it's about the look — that sheen, that glowy, glazy sheen. I don't want to go to bed at night unless I look like a freshly glazed doughnut." After saying her mind initially went to food, Paltrow said, "And then I thought glazed doughnut sounded sexual." Bieber replied, "You're like, 'What's this new position everyone's getting into, the glazed doughnut?'"

We might suggest to Paltrow that she never changes, but at this point, we're not entirely sure that's even possible. Watch the episode in its entirety above, and skip to 9:25 for the exchange in question.
