This Quirky Styling Hack Uses Lip Pencils to Curl Your Hair

If you're a beauty-product hoarder, you likely have dozens of eye, brow, and lip pencils in your collection. Why not make them multitask? Makeup artist and entrepreneur Huda Kattan took to her Instagram feed to demonstrate how easy it is to curl one's strands with lip pencils. She used an assortment of her incredible Huda Beauty Lip Contour sticks to get the job done.

Here's how she did it: starting with damp hair, she spritzed her mane with Ouai Wave Spray ($26) to add texture. Then, after applying a generous amount of R+Co Aircraft Pomade Mousse ($29) for a bit of body and hold, she fashioned her pencils into curlers. She wound small sections of hair around each stylus, secured it to her head with a bobby pin, and repeated until all of her strands were pinned up.

While you could let your hair air-dry at this point, Huda opted to carefully blow-dry her mane — taking caution to not melt the precious liners, of course. After unwinding each section, she revealed perfect, glossy ringlets that looked completely natural, not overly styled. We're definitely going to try this trick this weekend! (Don't want to put your makeup in harm's way? Just use standard pencils.) See how it works below.
