When it comes to her hair, Idina Menzel just let it go. On Jan. 17, the "Frozen" actor revealed a new "box" bob haircut [2], styled much shorter than we've ever seen her formerly long brown waves. In a lighthearted video posted on her Instagram, Menzel showed off her new chop from multiple angles, tucking one side behind her ear and letting her chin-length haircut [3] highlight the curls in her hair. "So this happened today," she wrote in her caption while Lizzo [4]'s empowering anthem "Scuse Me" plays in the background of the video. Menzel's hairstylist, Paul Norton [5], also shared a video [6] of the bold look, writing, "New Year . . off with the old! New cut on @idinamenzel by Me."
To achieve Menzel's shorter, beachy waves and give her a completely fresh feel, Norton turned to Unite hair products and Hot Tools equipment to help with all his styling needs. "Who's next, I'm feeling scissor happy!" he added on social media. Luckily for Norton, this new version of the classic bob haircut [7] is already prepared to take 2023 by storm. The "box bob," previously described to POPSUGAR as a blunt, chin-length haircut designed to give a boxy silhouette, has been spotted on a slew of different celebrities, from Zendaya [8] to Menzel's "Frozen" costar Kristen Bell [9].
