The reputation of IT Cosmetics's CC+ Creams precedes them. You've either tried and loved them or you've heard countless amazing things but haven't had a chance to get your hands on a tube. I've been using the CC+ Cream Oil-Free Matte ($40) for years, but now the brand has a new foundation that's making me consider changing my old ways.

The IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation + Skincare came out a few months ago, but I hadn't found a reason to stray from my tried-and-true CC+ Cream. Then I kept hearing other beauty editors rave about the formula, so I decided to retrieve it from my makeup stash. Now I can't believe how long it took me to get on board.

The IT Cosmetics foundation boasts medium, buildable coverage with a natural finish. Unlike the CC+ Creams, which are thicker in consistency, the foundation is water-light. While the CC+ Creams are a bit more limited in shade range, the foundation comes in 40 different colors. With ingredients like hyaluronic acid and aloe vera to boost hydration, as well as vitamins E and B5 to protect against free radicals, it calls itself a makeup and skin-care hybrid.

Before and After Using the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation + Skincare

As someone who likes natural-looking coverage and allowing my skin to show through under my makeup as much as possible (I've worked hard on it, after all), this foundation was a perfect match for me right out the gate. To apply, I squirt about two pumps of the Light Neutral 22 shade onto the back of my hand and use a densely packed foundation brush to apply it all over my face. Then, to really make sure it's blended flawlessly, I use a damp makeup sponge to finish the job. It feels like you're not wearing anything at all while also blurring imperfections and pores without completely hiding them.

Of course, you can layer your favorite concealer with it for more coverage, which I do sometimes if I'm going for full glam or trying to cover a breakout, but for a minimal makeup look it's not needed. My five-minute Zoom face includes the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better Foundation + Skincare ($40) as the base, followed by a dusting of translucent powder (because face masks), a swipe of blush, brow gel, mascara, and lip gloss. Voila.
