Jennifer Lopez is switching up her nails yet again. Only days after sporting a glazed-doughnut manicure [2], the multihyphenate went for vibrant blue jelly nails [3] topped with a shimmer. In a photo shared by her manicurist Tom Bachik [4] on March 22, Lopez held one of her recognizable bedazzled tumblers [5] inscribed with "J Lo," displaying her latest nail art. "I've got the California Blues," he captioned the image, along with a rainy cloud and heart emoji.
Lopez's nails were filed into a ballerina shape [6] — resembling the outline of a ballet slipper — and painted with a slightly sheer blue hue, with glitter layered into the finish. Though the jelly trend has been favored by celebrities in recent years, it's slated to become even more popular [7] in 2023. "Like lip gloss for your nails, we'll see these semi-sheer shades interpreted in multiple color ways, such as juicy reds, pinks and oranges, blues and smoky grays, as well as paired with a chrome finish — resembling sea glass on your nails," Pattie Yankee [8], consulting manicurist for Dashing Diva, recently told POPSUGAR.
The superstar's blue manicure is a departure from her usual neutrals and nudes. She's frequently been spotted in variations of minimalist trends [9] like the baby french [10], milk-bath [11], and "rich-girl" manicures [12], often finished with glitter or metallic accents.
