Jonathan Van Ness's hobbies include but are not limited to: gymnastics, ice skating, spending time with their many pets [1], learning new things on their Netflix show "Getting Curious With Jonathan Van Ness," [2] bonding with their fellow "Queer Eye [3]" costars, and, of course, doing hair. This is all to say he is very busy.
That's why partnering with same-day-delivery brand Shipt [4] was a no-brainer for them. "I've used Shipt to get me out of a pinch so many times," Van Ness tells POPSUGAR. As a self-proclaimed "forgetter" with a lot on their plate, having access to all of their favorite products from Sephora, which is now available via the app, is a game changer. He's used it for everything from traveling to restocking on product while filming "Queer Eye." [5]
Ahead, get a peek into Van Ness's beauty routine and see their must-have products across hair, makeup, and skin care to have on hand at all times.
Jonathan Van Ness's Makeup Routine For "Queer Eye"
For "Queer Eye [6]," Van Ness almost always gets himself ready before coming to set. "It takes me like an hour, because I have to do my beard, and a blow-dry, and my makeup," they say. Their hour-plus glam routine includes showering, shaving and reshaping their beard, doing their full skin-care routine, and then moving on to makeup.
Van Ness uses the Cover FX Natural Finish Foundation [7] ($42) with the Power Play Concealer [8] ($30) for their base. For brows, he loves the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow [9] ($21). They'll also use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer [10] ($28) to add some color to their hairline and around the edge of the face.
Their getting-ready routine is also one of their favorite forms of self-care, so the more time spent pampering, the better.
Jonathan Van Ness's Favorite Skin-Care Products
Van Ness may be a hairstylist, but their passion for skin care runs deep. One of his favorite products is the Fenty Skin Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum With Niacinamide [11] ($30). "I'm a big fan of niacinamide as an ingredient [12]," they say. "We also feature it in our JVN Hair Complete Instant Recovery Heat Protectant Leave-In Serum [13] ($28)."
Another favorite is the Tatcha The Rice Wash Skin-Softening Cleanser [14] ($36). "That rice powder wash is next level," Van Ness says. "Coming into springtime, because the weather starts to change — I get a little bit sweatier, it's starting to get a little hotter, more humid — I like a little bit deeper of a cleanse."
Their third must have is the Saie Glowy Super Gel Lightweight Dewy Highlighter [15] ($28). "It looks natural, but it gives you your bang for your buck, so I love that," Van Ness says.
