I Want to Buy Lil Yachty's New Nail-Polish Colors Based on the Packaging Alone

Lil Yachty [1] has officially joined the evergrowing list of celebrities who have been taking the plunge into the beauty world over the last few years. The rapper announced on May 3 that he's launching a line of nail-polish colors called Crete, and the first collection will be released on May 21.

"I'd like to introduce my new nail paint line @crete__co .... FIRST COLOR DROP MAY 21," he captioned an Instagram photo showing off the slim, black bottles they're packaged in. "4 ALL GENDERS. FOR YOU, NOT THEM!"

Yachty, who's no stranger to painting fun designs on his nails, first teased the brand during an interview with TMZ [2] back in December. "It's unisex but I want it to be more focused on for men to use it, and to be more comfortable in their own skin," he said. "Because bro, it's 2020, you know what I'm saying, like it's about to be 2021. Come on, what are barriers? We still have barriers?"

The rapper gave a brief explanation of his new brand after the publication asked for his thoughts on a student named Trevor Wilkinson who was suspended from his Texas high school [3] last year for having his nails painted. Yachty defended Wilkinson, saying that the punishment he received for expressing himself was unfair.

"If someone wants to express themself in any type of way, as long as it's not harming anyone or bringing anyone down, they should be allowed to do so," he said. "You shouldn't be punished or tormented for being you."

Yachty is one of a handful of men in entertainment (like Harry Styles [4], Bad Bunny, and Lil Nas X [5]) who proudly wear intricate designs on their nails. His announcement also follows that of Machine Gun Kelly, who's currently creating a collection of unisex nail colors [6] in partnership with Unlisted Brand Lab.
