I'm not one to go all out with eye shadow [2]. In fact, after 26 years on this earth, it still pains me to admit that, of the handful of makeup items I struggle with, eye shadow is one that I have yet to master. But because I'm a human who loves a challenge, I'll also admit that I have a very embarrassing number of palettes stashed in my makeup drawer [3] that I reserve for special occasions and events. Recently, my collection increased by one when I got my hands on YouTube guru Patrick Starrr's Visionary Palette [4] ($42) from his all-new brand One/Size — and the palette is just as good as you'd think it is.

It is one of several products that the newly launched brand rolled out this summer, alongside makeup removing wipes, gel and liquid eyeliner pens, and liquid eye shadow. The Visionary Palette itself features 15 shades carefully picked by the beauty guru, ranging from neutrals to bold colors to metallics that practically pop on your skin.

Despite how intimidating metallics can be for me, they were actually the first colors I went for in this palette. The first thing I noticed when I swatched them was how pigmented they are and how incredibly easy they are to apply. I also noticed that, when I rubbed them on my lids, there was very little to no fallout, which is often key to a good eye-shadow color.

For the look I created, I used my fingers to gently apply the color Soft Serve (a matte peach) to my lids before following that with Everything (a metallic rose gold). The look wasn't too bold, but I'd say that's what I liked the most about it.
