It Was the Year of the Oscars Updo . . . With a Twist

We're calling it: the 2023 Oscars [1] is the year of the updo [2] — but not just a regular updo, a cool updo. With the awards show officially underway, we've had our eyes peeled for the best makeup and hair trends [3], and one we've seen over and over is the updo . . . with a little something extra. Whether it's braids, buns with twists [4], or a ponytail that doubles as bangs, stars were spotted strutting the red carpet serving out-of-the-box looks we couldn't help but drool over.

Ashley Graham [5], Vanessa Hudgens [6], Winnie Harlow [7], and Hong Chau were just a few of the celebrities seen walking the red carpet with updos with a twist. Hudgens was seen with a slicked-back updo with a bow detail in the back, while Harlow sported an updo with fun front wisps. Graham wore a slicked-back updo with twist braids, and Chau popped up on the red carpet with a slicked-back double-bun.
