7 Easy Hairstyles For When You Just Don't Have the Time

Looking polished may be the goal, but some days you've just gotta steal the precious moments you have to look your best. We partnered with fruitwater on this post that shows you how to look good in minimal time.

For those days you hit snooze one too many times, your hair is the one thing that's likely to suffer most. Tired of your plain old pony on those less-than-punctual holy-crap-look-at-the-time days? No matter the length or style of your locks, one of these ideas will work for you in minutes. So stop freaking out, and say sayonara to bad hair days for good. Source: Getty / Kirstin Sinclair

1. Loose Waves

Effortlessly tousled hair looks like you just rolled out of bed — and you really might have! The style is easier to pull off than you think and might be more about finding the right tool than the actual effort put into it. If you're working with a midlength lob or bob, reach for a one-inch barrel or flat iron with a curved shaft. For longer hair, try a two-inch barrel for big locks. Curl in opposite directions and then finger-comb for quick and sexy hair.

Perfect for the days you really don't care, pull hair up in a loose bun and finish with a chic headscarf. You'll look pulled together in less than five minutes.

3. Big Bun

Fake a thick bun by spritzing hair with texturizing spray while tousling. Brush hair back into a high pony, and secure with an elastic band. Then spend a few minutes teasing the heck out of your hair. Smooth the ends of your teased hair, wrap into a bun, and then set with bobby pins. Finish by spraying hair spray and smoothing back any stray hairs with a brush.

Another style that looks fabulously detailed but is deceptively easy is the milkmaid braid. Section hair down the middle, and secure with ponytail holders. Braid lengths, and hold ends with two more elastic bands. Finish by pulling braids up and over the head and setting with bobby pins. Cute and simple.

When you literally have no time to make anything happen, smooth hair, spritz with texturizing spray or dry shampoo, and then tousle. Top with a hat, and you're ready to go. And there are so many stylish options that you really can't go wrong.

6. Fishtail Braid

Second-day hair is a must for a fishtail braid, which saves you the time of jumping in the shower. Spritz hair with dry shampoo or texturizing spray, and then sweep all your hair to one side. Separate into two even sections; grab a thin strand from the outside of each section (make sure they're the same size), and pull them across so they intersect in the middle. Repeat until you've reached the end of your hair, and secure with a ponytail holder. It sounds tricky, but once you get the hang of it, you're a fishtailer forever.

7. Pouf Pony

Give the impression that you spent hours flirting with your hair when a stunning pouf really only takes minutes — and no need for clean hair. Spritz flat hair with hair spray, and then section the front of your hair. Starting at your hairline, section hair and start back-combing. Continue working until you have teased six inches of hair or your arms feel like they're going to fall off. Hit with a bit more hair spray and then smooth back toward the back of your head. Hold with bobby pins as needed and then pull the rest of your hair into a low pony.
