Is there an actual doctor involved?
The short answer: kinda, sorta. According to the historical timeline curated by Dr. Bronner's grandsons, the man behind the brand was actually born as Emanuel Heilbronner, but after the family soap factory in Germany was nationalized by Nazis and his parents were killed in Auschwitz and Theresienstadt, respectively, Emanuel dropped the "Heil" from his name. Not long after, he gave himself the title "Dr." It is said that with his intensity, scientific knowledge, and thick German accent, no one argued it. And with soap-making in his blood, Dr. Bronner's was born.
