I've been waiting to get my hands on Selena Gomez's makeup brand, Rare Beauty, ever since I heard it was in the works. When I knew the products were on their way, I checked my mailbox daily — okay, more like hourly — until I finally received the enormous box. I instantly swatched all of the products inside, from the lip soufflés to the cheek luminizers, but I was most intrigued by the foundation.

I'm probably the pickiest when it comes to my foundation formulas. I'd much rather wear a tinted moisturizer than an actual foundation altogether. I prefer a natural, radiant finish that still allows my skin to peek through when I'm wearing it and doesn't feel heavy. So, as I said, I was eager to see how the Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation would stand up.

About the Rare Beauty Foundation Formula

First, there are a few things you should know about Gomez's Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation ($29). It comes in 48 shades and has a large doe-foot wand which allows for easy, mess-free application. Before you apply it, the product should be shaken up thoroughly to ensure it's well-mixed.

My first impression of the foundation was that it is very liquidy because it has a serum-like base and the shades skew on the warmer side — even the neutral colors that I was sent. However, once I applied a few dots to my face the formula instantly grew on me and 210N, a light-medium shade with neutral beige undertones, proved to be a great shade match.

Using a foundation brush and one layer of the foundation you get very natural, light coverage. This would be perfect for someone who dislikes wearing foundation but wants a tiny bit of coverage. I, however, needed a bit more help to cover up the breakouts I've been experiencing on the lower part of my face so I went in for a second layer.

Despite how lightweight it is, the formula builds up to medium coverage really well without getting cakey. My favorite part was after two applications of product it still felt weightless on my skin. Where I used to reserve foundation for special occasions or going out, I can actually see myself using this foundation in place of my tinted moisturizer for everyday wear — it really feels like you have nothing on at all.

Using a Full Face of Rare Beauty Products

I finished my full face of makeup with all Rare Beauty products using the Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer ($19) on blemishes and under my eyes, Soft Pinch Liquid Blush ($20) on my cheeks, Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight ($22) on my temples and brow bone, Brow Harmony Pencil & Gel ($22), and With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm ($16) for a quick swipe of color on my lips. So now, I can confirm what everyone is already saying: the Rare Beauty products are that good.
