I Tried 8 New Too Faced Lipsticks And Now I'm a Damn Unicorn

In what feels like a world full of unicorn makeup lovers, I'll admit — I'm not an "all holographic everything" type of gal. Don't get me wrong — there's nothing wrong with the colorful trend. In fact, I envy people who can pull off wearing sparkly lips and pearlescent highlight. But, I recently got my hands lips on the latest pieces of Too Faced's new Festival Collection and, dare I say it, I might actually be a #TeamUnicorn convert.

The brand's new lineup features two new lip products: La Créme Mystical Effects Lipsticks and Mystical Effects Lip Toppers. The La Créme lipsticks contains color-shifting technology which adjusts the tint of the lipstick to your unique body temperature. On the other hand, the lip toppers can be worn alone or on top of your favorite lipstick to give any color a holographic hint.

I got to preview every shade of the new Too Faced goodies, and to call me "obsessed" would be an understatement. Read ahead for my breakdown of the new lippies and to see they look IRL!

When I first saw the products, I immediately thought they would be way too glittery for my liking. But, considering how much I love other Too Faced lip products (like Melted Latex and Melted Matte), I decided to give ‘em a fair chance. Spoiler alert: I'm happy as hell that I did.

Upon applying the La Créme tubes, I instantly fell in love with the velvety texture of the lipsticks. Seriously, y’all, they glide on like butter. Each hue has a special tint and slight sparkle that isn’t overwhelming, so unicorn skeptics (like moi) can rest assured knowing that their lips won’t look like a disco ball.

You also don't have to worry about your lips drying out with these. I left the Too Faced launch event wearing Fairy Tears and my lips were moisturized for hours afterwards. My favorite thing about these lipsticks is that they transform with your body’s temperature, so every color gives off a "your lips but better" pigment, that is sexy AF (and who doesn’t want sexy lips?).

Here I am wearing Angel Tears, which adjusted to a peachy tone with golden flecks on my lips.

Here I am rocking Unicorn Tears, which shifted to a subtle lilac on me.

Fairy Tears was probably my favorite color of the bunch. It gave my lips that sexy flush of pink I mentioned earlier, with just the right amount of sparkle to make them look plump!

Mermaid Tears was also one of my favorites. This tint translated into a vampy purple hue on my complexion, which is totally out of my comfort zone but I was into it. The blueish-purple tint felt like the perfect shade to carry in my purse for Fall.

Now when it was time to try on the Mystical Effects Lip Toppers, I was way more open minded considering my new obsession with the La Créme tubes — and I wasn’t disappointed. Unlike other popular glitter toppers that I’ve tried (that felt watery and dry), these wear like gloss. They comes in four shades to mirror the La Créme colors, but these don’t adjust to your body temperature. Instead, they add a holographic shift to your lips when worn alone or over lipstick.

Like the lipsticks, the lip toppers are super moisturizing, and not once did my pout feel parched in between swapping colors. They didn’t feel tacky or sticky, and I actually loved how the colors looked on my lips alone.

Here's the Lip Topper in Unicorn Tears on me. I love that the pigment isn't insanely holographic and just gives off an iridescent shine in the light.

Fairy Tears was the closest to my natural lip color and enhanced my pout! I would definitely reach for this over plain clear gloss when my lips need just a hint of shimmer.

Angel Tears has tiny flecks of rose gold shimmer that pop in the natural light.

Like the La Créme lipsticks, Mermaid Tears was one of my favorite shades. There's something about that vampy purple color that put a little extra pep in my step!
