The queen of spooky nails [2] is back but with a noticeably unexpected manicure. On June 22, Vanessa Hudgens [3] posted a selfie with her puppy sitting outdoors somewhere. In the photo, Hudgens is sporting a black hoodie, oversized sunglasses, and "supermodel" nails [4].

Deviating from her usual extra-long stiletto shape [5], Hudgens's manicure was short and square. For that "supermodel effect," she wore a translucent pink polish [6] that was so sheer, you could see a glimpse of her natural nail beneath it. A shiny topcoat finished off the simple manicure. Though she's not usually one for neutral nails [7], the look feels fresh for summer and pairs well with her all-black ensemble.

Even if you're more of a maximalist-manicure lover, barely-there shades like pink [8], white, and beige act as a gorgeous base color for additional nail art — be it crystals, decals, or hand-painted designs.
