Does Your Workplace Hire Summer Interns?

As the bloggers over at DC Interns are well aware, the Summer intern season has officially begun. While the intern experience is probably not as intense in most places as it is on the Hill, many workplaces bring on a few young, energetic up-and-comers to help out and learn the ropes (and let's be honest, make more than a few copies) for the Summer. Is yours one of them?

Yes, I love having interns, in our engineering department they usually run all of the testing during the summer. Which is nice, because in Houston, you don't want to be outside in the summer!

We hire people for non-paid work experience year round but there is a really long waiting list that's difficult to get on.

We don't hire interns, but we have students from the med tech and nursing programs from the local state schools spend a month in the lab learning about what we do so they aren't completely clueless when they have to order tests done on people. My husband's company hires tons of interns and a lot of them get hired on full-time after they graduate. My husband actually spent 2 summers interning there, which was really good experience for him.

we've actually had pretty good success with interns - a few have gone on to become full-time staff (including me!) and we've had some pretty much run entire fundraisers for us (i work for a non-profit)...of course, there are the duds, too

I run our summer internship program which has increased to 33 interns in 3 offices over 8 weeks. Thankfully two of them are in our department helping out!

Yup... our office (state's attorneys') has five. We have students from high school, college, and law school, so what they do varies.
