Employers Could Require That You Divulge Your Sexual History

Employers Asking Coupled Co-Workers to Sign Love Contracts

While I don't imagine most workplaces host as much inter-office intercourse as the hot crew on Grey's Anatomy, there's no doubt that sex with co-workers is not limited to scripted TV. On last week's episode of Grey's, the Chief sent George on a mission to collect the sexual histories of the hospital's employees. More specifically, their histories of having sex with each other. Could you be subject to divulging your office affairs to your boss? Find out when you

According to ABC News, some employers are requiring romantically involved workers to sign "love contracts" that defines the nature of their relationships. Tory Johnson, workplace contributor for "Good Morning America," explained the reasoning for these contracts when she said, "Think of it in terms of a prenup. You're getting married. Someone basically [is] saying, 'We're happy. We hope it rules out. If it doesn't, we know what the rules will be.' In this particular case, you're saying to the employer, 'We'll prevent you from being held responsible for employment issues in the event of a failed personal relationship.' The employer should not have that burden. "

What a pointless invasion of privacy. Are they afraid of getting sued by an employee for a bad break-up? SERIOUSLY!

see i think that this is a little too invasive of my privacy...i don't know if i would feel comfortable sharing that information with my employer. my boyfriend and i met through work, and that's just more than i would want people to know. we kept it really hush hush that we were dating since we didn't want people to nose in on our business....

At my office, you are supposed to tell HR that about the relationship, but I somehow don't think most people would want to do this. It just leads to the possibility of more office gossip when more people know and awkwardness when interacting with people who know but are bound by confidentiality.

so many people here at my job are married to people from other departments. But the rule of thumb is basically no inter-dept dating, but in general 15 of our 300 employees are together with each other.

I work for a sales organization. If one person leaves, you never know if the other is feeding confidential info. I would understand if this was implemented for any place I would work.

When a couple of my friends were dating, they kept it a secret from work. When he proposed, they finally had to go to our boss and say they were thinking about dating (easier than, we've been dating)... and though I'm not sure about every romance at work needing to be reported, she was his assistant and was reassigned in the office to avoid any sexual boss/assistant relationship. There are reasons employers need to know if you're in an office relationship, but the tv plots go over the top to be funny.

My thoughts too, ema. I remember Jim and Pam asking Toby if they should sign one, and he responded "let's wait and see," hoping that it would not work out between them. But it's only funny on t.v.
