How Many Jobs Have You Had?

There is a widely touted statistic that says people will switch jobs on the average of seven times during their lifetime, reported the Wall Street Journal. Researchers are baffled about how that number came about and some think it's too high. However, most agree that changing jobs when you're still fresh in the working world is quite common. I want to know — how many jobs have you had?

I joined the workforce at 18 and I'm 24 so in 6 years I've held 2 jobs. I held my first job for 4 years and I've been in this job for 2.

I've had 4 jobs in my life. I was a caddy for a few month back in high school. It was really hard to get up at 5am on the weekends and carry other people's bags. Then in college I interned at GE for a summer. After graduation, I did the wall street thing for a bit and now I'm in another finance role.

I think I'm on #9, but most of those were waitressing or bartending... As far as "career" jobs, I've been at my first one for almost eight years now.

Jobs wise, including High school, 3. Cashier during high school at a local "shore" store (yep, from NJ.), College- guest services at a movie theater, now I'm in my career (still working at the movie theater on the weekends) at an entertainment company managing a recording studio (among other things)... Not planning on straying too far from this career path, but who knows, I'm only 22... got a long time for work ahead of me.

I agree with runningesq, is this for jobs or careers? I have had plenty of jobs since I started working at 17. I'm not too sure which have counted if we are talking about jobs building up to a career.

I have had numerous "jobs" since the age of 13 but I guess in terms of jobs which are building my career...I am on my 4th.

Agree with running...this is a super hard question to ask...I have had numerous jobs (since highschool, probably 5-7 - depending on whether or not moving around within the same company is a switch), but since beginning my career, I have worked at 2 places, but it's still all the same career!
