How Much Does It Cost to Stay Young

Paying a High Price to Be Forever Young

Seeking the fountain of youth can be expensive, but it appears people in their 50s are doling out more cash than ever to prevent aging. Compared with a generation ago, people over 50 are 14 times more likely to use wrinkle cream and cosmetic surgery has doubled, according to a survey by Saga magazine. This begs the question of whether society is putting more pressure on women to defy aging or if they're just enhancing and embracing beauty at their age.

It's not just the midlife age group that's going on an anti-aging spending spree. Beauty retailers are showing more interest shown toward tapping into the under-30 market. Renowned dermatologist Dr. Perricone is launching a "Super" line targeted toward 20-somethings who are already fretting over wrinkles and the like.

How much are you spending on anti-aging products?

I'm not too concerned about wrinkles quite yet. I'll start worrying when they don't give me the kids' menu at restaurants anymore. My husband on the other hand is freaking out over his two little wrinkles. I told him he doesn't have to worry because he's a guy, but he doesn't believe me and demands wrinkle cream, lol.

Not really any. I'm 27. I have random gray hairs. I have wrinkles. (Might have something to do with losing almost 100 pounds). But, people are always asking me what grade of school I'm in. So I guess I'm not worrying about anti-aging yet!

I don't know how much I'll be spending on anti aging products, because I'm not completely convinced they work. I've already got quite a bit of grey hair at 23, and I'm ok with that heh. Of course it's hard to judge now, but I don't think I ever will be terribly worried about looking younger. The only thing I'm doing for it right now is always wearing sunscreen and generally staying out of the sun for long periods of time... and eating fairly healthy.
