I'm Asking: How Many Jobs Have You Had Since College?

The common statistic is that workers change jobs an average seven times in their careers, but younger employees are getting a reputation for job-hopping and failing to develop a sense of loyalty to our employers.

I'm wondering how many jobs you've had since joining the real world: Have you played the field or have you been relatively exclusive?

I'm still in college, but in the 15 months I took off (two semesters+summers) I had two. Now that I've moved back to my college town, I'm hoping I'll find my third very quickly!

I graduated in 1999 from University... I have had 8 jobs since then. The first four jobs I had each lasted 3 to 6 months... And I left each one to "upgrade" in position and salary. Then, the last four, I worked at each for exactly a year and a half before moving on. I have been at my current job for over a year and a half, and I will be leaving it in April of next year. I actually haven't found that being a "job jumper" has been a problem. And I think that's because I upgraded with each job. Even though I love my current job, I have recruiters trying to entice me away... As it is difficult to find legitimately talented people in my field.

I graduated 2004, so not that long ago, I'm starting job #6 and i travelled for 10 months in 06/07. Although a lot of them were contracts and I would still be at #4 probably, if it hadn't closed.

Not counting my freelance business, which is perpetual regardless of other employment, I've had only one job since college. Ironically, when I was hired I planned on staying only a year (and told my employer so), but ended up liking it so much that I've stayed.

Well, I graduated a little over 2 years ago, and I'm on my second job. Worked at my first job for almost 2 years until I got laid off.

I graduated three years ago and am on job #2 (plus a few freelance jobs on the side) -- the first was a retail job just to save up while living at home. I stayed there for almost two years, then relocated and have been at my current job (more on my career path) for almost a year.

i've had 5 jobs since i left college - and i guess that's kind of normal..granted only 2 have been in the same industry - there were 2 that were related and then another that was in music - oh well. i liked to try things out i guess - and now i finally figured out what i like to do and what i'm good at.

I didn't get a "real" job right out of college. I bartended for a few years first. So... 1. Bartending job (3 years) 2. Office job #1 (6 years) 3. Part time bartending school instructor during office job #1 (2 years) 4. Office job #2 (6 months) 5. Office job #3 (2.5 years and counting)

Do I have to count really horrible jobs I worked at for 2 weeks or less when I was 18?

I finished grad school in 2005, had an internship that summer, and then started at my current job. I don't really count the internship as a real job though, so I've only had one serious job since joining the real world.

I have been out of school for 6 years now and I have had 5 jobs. I relocated once so that's my excuse! However I get annoyed when people think I'm still 23 or something and am at my first job ever. Where I work now, I've been with more companies than the majority of the old farts here who have only worked one place their whole life.

this is my third job post college (it's been two years and i'm 24). i moved to live with my boyfriend and hated the job that i started with here - but now my job is fabulous and i might actually stay for a couple of years. only problem: boyfriend graduates in may and i am anxious to get to a bigger city again. we'll see how it goes.

It has been 3 years since I graduated and I'm on my 4th job(I also picked up a masters in media management along the way.)All my jobs have been pretty good, except the 3rd, it was torture, but I think all the jumping around has helped pump up my resume and it has definitely helped me earn more money. Instead of waiting around for raises or promotions at one company I've been able to increase my salary by 20,000 dollars in three years by moving around.

Two jobs since law school, once between college and law school. I was at my first law job 2 years and have been at my second 1 year. I hate to switch jobs all the time...but, I'm very unhappy where I am now, so I may be moving on again soon.
