The 5 Elements of an Utterly Irresistible Résumé

Rachael Ray Is a TJ Maxx and Target Girl

The queen of 30-minute meals, Rachael Ray, is an expert on whipping up family meals, and in her life outside the kitchen she loves to share more than just food with her own family. When Bankrate asked her if she treats herself to many extravagances, Ray said that now she's able to take her entire family on an annual Italian vacation and she enjoys doing things that are "emotionally profitable," like starting the Yum-O! organization.

While she's all for going splurging on her family and giving generously to charity, the bubbly cook doesn't spend much on her wardrobe. She said that she certainly has "more shoes than she did 15 years ago," but most of her shopping habits haven't really changed.

But in our everyday life, I wear literally the same pants I've had for 10, 12 years. I still shop at TJ Maxx and Marshalls and Target, and I do my own grocery shopping. I wander around in Adidas sweats and wear bluejeans most of the time.

Bankrate points out that we can all learn from Ray's habits of living below our means and sharing what we do have when possible.

Going through my wallet there are TONS of target reciepts! I love that place and wonder around there on a weekly basis. I also like the discount stores like tjmaxx, but sometimes, even though you get a great steal on some items (Got my friend zebra plates for her new appartment for $2/each) it can feel like a thrift store.

Good to hear that someone hasn't let celebrity status get to their heads. I can never understand when one hits that level why on earth they spend so much money on materialistic things when there are people out there who could benefit such as the organization that Rachel started. I loveeeee Target & Marshall...Ross isn't bad either.

I don't really like Rachael Ray, compared to who she was a few years ago, but I do agree with shopping at TJ Maxx and Target! Clothes are never worth their full retail value, especially when the mode of marketers is to "Price it down until it sells!"

I love Target and Marshall's. I have found some really great deals at those places. I guess sometimes I don't really get the point of really expensive clothes. I mean, I'm sure $300 jeans are nice, but are they really 6 times better than a pair of jeans that cost $50?

I love those stores. I absolutely hate when people call them bluejeans though, especially one word.

Rachael and I could definitely get some shopping done! Target? Darling, I have found some great clothing deals there within the past few weeks...additional 30% off the clearance which is already reduced 50-75%

I am sure a lot of that has to do with where she grew up. :)

Yeah, you go Rachael! Many people have gotten into serious financial trouble because they had MORE money and TERRIBLE spending habits to go with it. I *wish* I could still FIT into pants from 10-12 years ago! That's pretty amazing. @_@

That's great to hear! I definitely do this too. I've found I'm happier buying a shirt on sale at target for $6 than blowing big bucks on a splurge. There's no buyer's remorse.

It is always a good reminder to live below your means. Even though I make more than I did 2 years ago, I save the same - it's a habit I need to break!
