I know aimeeb. After an interview I will spend hours writing the perfect thank you cards to everyone who interviewed me that day, and you never hear from them when they tell you so unless you press them.

My BIGGEST pet peeve is when you don't get the job and they don't even have the decency to tell you. They just don't get back to you. I mean I have to be cordial to them and I always send a thank you and they can't even email me with a quick heads up, instead they go MIA till you get the hint. Sooo rude.

As an interviewer, I can't say how much it impresses me when someone send a thank you email or letter. I can also count on one hand the number of people who have actually done so. It really is worth it to take the extra 5 minutes to send a thank you note and let the interviewer know you are grateful for the opportunity and interested in the job.
