What Is the Most Secure Job of 2009?

It's been another rocky year for unemployment rates, but there are a handful of careers that have been given a recession-proof tag and that is something to celebrate in naming the Best of 2009. These jobs have been holding their own amid a faltering economy, which makes them pretty secure given their relative strength in the weak job market. Which career do you think is the most solid?

Health care. We can't find enough nurses, med techs, CNAs, etc. to meet the demands most of the time. It's a tough field, but at least you know you are always needed.

I'm in higher education and you don't hear about people getting fired or laid off too often, though it has happened this year. What's more common: cutting budgets over and over, hiring freezes, and salary freezes. We haven't gotten COL adjustments in about three years. No raises in the same amount of time. I'm thankful that I love my job, though.

What about education? I know there have been some cuts in the schools (as in all fields), but overall education is a pretty secure field to be in right now.
