What Time to Show Up For Interviews

What's Perfect Interview Timing?

A friend of mine is a hiring manager and is constantly sharing insightful (and occasionally hilarious) tales of being on the power side of the table. He recently reported candidates tend to show up anywhere from 30 to 15 minutes before the scheduled time, and asked me how early I think is too early. I have a number in mind, but I want to know what you think first. What do you think is the right time to show up for an interview?

I voted 10 min early because I have the mindset that early is always better than late. I turn away every late candidate regardless of the excuse. Way too early? Find a bathroom and check outfit, resume, and make-up.

I recently went to an interview and got there half an hour early! I had planned extra time because I was nervous about getting lost, subway delays, etc. Normally I would have found a nearby bench and waited before going inside, but it was pouring rain so I had no choice but to head in! I was embarrassed, but I think they were understanding since it was raining so hard.
