On Wednesday, what would have been Amy's 33rd birthday, Adele shared a beautiful, happy photo of the "Rehab" singer on Instagram [3], writing, "Happy Birthday Amy X."

Amy, who struggled for years with drug and alcohol addiction, died of alcohol poisoning at the age of 27 in 2011 [4], leaving behind a troubled [5] but absolutely brilliant [6] legacy. Adele has cited Amy's career as one of the main influences of her own success in the past, especially in an interview with Vice's i-D magazine [7] in October 2015. "If it wasn't for Amy and [her 2003 debut album] Frank, one hundred per cent I wouldn't have picked up a guitar, I wouldn't have written 'Daydreamer' or 'Hometown' and I wrote 'Someone Like You' on the guitar too," she said, before adding, "I love Amy. I always have, I always will. Do you know what makes me super sad? That I'm never going to hear her voice again, other than how I've heard it."
