It's hard to feel bad for Anthony Weiner, but in this situation we do. He's embarrassed himself with an ongoing sexting scandal and shown repeated arrogance toward the voters of NYC during his doomed bid for mayor. This week it seemed like he was at it again, when a video circulated of the candidate freaking out at a fellow Jewish New Yorker. Weiner, who likes to call himself "Carlos Danger," shouted at the voter: "You don't get to judge me because you have shown no sign that you are superior to me and you are not my God." He also said, "You know nothing. You know nothing. Your ignorance is being shown to the entire world."
At first, it seemed like an aggressive response to a voter who was expressing his disapproval of Weiner's poor judgment. But after Weiner's campaign released a longer version of the video, it's clear that's not the whole story. In the full video, you can hear the voter say, "You're a real scumbag" and "You're married to an Arab." Weiner's wife, Huma Abedin, is a Muslim. Considering those insults, Weiner's reaction makes a lot more sense.
