Audio of John Mayer's Single "Who Says" Off Battle Studies Album

John Mayer's "Who Says" — Love It or Leave It?

John Mayer has been hard at work, as promised, for the last few months on his upcoming album, Battle Studies. He's debuted new songs before, but last night he released what he says is his first single. The chorus includes the lyrics, "Who says I can't get stoned," and apparently he's performed it live a few times. So tell us what you think — love it or leave it?

Lame. Also it's hilarious that he's basically saying "Who says screw around with tons of ladies and make no emotional attachments of any kind?" Typical John Mayer. Of course he's allowed to write something slight, something short on depth, but I'd rather his music not reflect the childish manwh*re persona he's cultivated.

Love it! Heard him on Z100 -- he redeemed himself in my eyes!

While the 'stoned' lyric isn't my cup of tea, I love John Mayer and I love his music.
