Beyoncé Completely Owns the September Cover of Vogue

Aug 13 2015 - 3:25pm

Out of all the powerful women in Hollywood Vogue could have chosen for its biggest issue of the year — the September issue — the magazine chose the one woman who can't seem to stop taking over the world [1] — Beyoncé. The singer, dancer, and designer looks stunning on the cover, wearing a lace dress and sequined purple blazer [2]. The image, shot by famed photographer Mario Testino, shows Beyoncé sporting a wet hairstyle as she stares down the lens with her usual fierceness [3]. "Just B," the cover line reads. "Beyoncé and the art of global domination." In other photos, the mom of Blue Ivy [4] is seen wearing a low-cut black dress and going commando in a lace gown.

The cover, which is Beyoncé's third for the fashion magazine, is also particularly monumental. It is the third time a black woman has been featured on her own, after Naomi Campbell [5] in 1989 and Halle Berry [6] in 2010. And fashion designers didn't hesitate to weigh in on why Bey deserves such a coveted cover. Marc Jacobs said, "The word diva is used for so many female performers, and it often means they have reputations for being difficult, but she exudes charm and a lovable quality."
