The casts of Black Panther [2] and Crazy Rich Asians [3] met up (finally!) at the 2019 SAG Awards on Jan. 27, and — whew! — you can feel their power through the photos. As two of the most groundbreaking and box-office-shaking films last year, it was only a matter of time before these groups united and blew our minds.
Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu shared a couple of snaps from their meeting on Instagram [4]. He wrote in the caption, "Holy sh*t this photo is beautiful." A-freakin'-men. Plus, an interesting photobomb from Darren Criss and Mike Myers [5]? This picture really does have everything.
Both casts were up for the night's top honor of best ensemble, which Black Panther [6] took home. In response, Chadwick Boseman gave a rousing acceptance speech [7] that left viewers feeling strong and empowered — and vibranium had nothing to do with it. His message emphasized the importance of inclusion and diversity, a lesson audiences could learn from Black Panther and Crazy Rich Asians.
While both movies have sequels in the works, I sure wouldn't mind if a crossover between these casts happened too. Mr. Chu and Mr. Ryan Coogler, I'm free to brainstorm any ideas — but I know you've got it covered.
