Brad is Sick of Himself

Brad has had a major shift in attitude over the past year. He says having children is the best thing ever because it changes your perspective of the world. Brad was just in New Orleans helping with Global Green, an effort for affordable, eco-friendly housing. He said he is still devastated by what he saw.

Brad also said this about having children:

"completely changes your perspective and certainly takes the focus off yourself, which I'm really grateful for." Chuckling, he added: "I'm so tired of thinking about myself. I'm sick of myself."

Of parenting, he said, "You feel you want to be there and not miss out on anything. It's a true joy (and) a very profound love. You can write a book, you can make a movie, you can paint a painting, but having kids is the most extraordinary thing I've ever taken on."

And of Shiloh, he revealed, "Man, if I can get a burp out of that little thing I feel such a sense of accomplishment."

Funny how I can actually totally relate to the burping thing now. Congrats to Brad for growing up and expanding his horizons to help others.

miguela- that may have not come out right- I was just saying a year ago, if you tried to explain yourself in reguards of liking this couple, you would be practically have pies thrown in your face, now, it just seems you can argue your point politely and people are more willing to listen, partly because the "scandal" is not fresh anymore, and partly because Brangelina have become a bit more acceptable. Thats all I was saying.

miguela- i didn't even read all the above but listen, ANYTHING that mentions the jen/brad/aj thing is just nuts. for some reason those names really stir up feelings. there are 2 posters that are SO (what is the word, psycho/loyal?) to either ja or aj that their names on a story will keep me away from the whole thread. don't go into hiding on account of this thread, people play nice on most other topics.

i think Brad is HOT and what he said above is sooo cute. So what jennifer and brad did not work many other cele relationships, he is happy now..let him move on as did Jennifer...but i wish Brad the best luck always....i dont know what it is about him but he is to die for.

Mar, I really don't know why my opinion has disrupted "the flow," but not to worry, it's back to lurking for me. RL is headache enough without suddenly feeling like "what the hell just happened here?!" Somehow an opposing opinion about how two people who I don't know on a personal level handle their celebrity got turned into something that shouldn't require a moderator. I DO understand your good intentions, and it's appreciated even if I'm puzzled by it. GB

That said, I think the picture with this entry is amazing - the juxtoposition of Brad with the threatening sky and damaged home... amazing art.

Absolutely agree, mar. I think Brad going to NO is wonderful, and the charity he's involved with there is a good one. In THIS case, I hope it doesn't become about WHO is involved, but remains about WHAT is involved. I also agree that the media saturation of Jessica, Lindsay, Paris, etc is WAY beyond the pale, and this is coming from a member of the media (I'm a writer). I, too, would rather see Angelina and Brad get publicity than the triumverate of vapidity that I mentioned above. Do I think Angelina's passion is often overshadowed by her attention seeking mannerisms? Yeah. But that is what I think. Mar doesn't agree, and that's cool. What's funny is that I really used to like Angelina, but she did something uncool (charity related, in fact) that I can't let go of, and it has colored my perception of her greatly.
mar mar 11 years
Let me speak for myself here, I definatly do not idolize Brad or AJ. I really respect and admire the passion ( more so AJ) has for what she does. When I actually see her in action in the third world countries, I get excited, because it is just refreshing to me, for more reasons then I care to tell. Miguela- I know what you are saying, but if you have been lurking on this site, you will see the support for "Brangelina" has only risen. It used to be a war zone around here. I totally respect what Padraigan said, her perception is not exactly the same as mine as what is crossing the line as being a show off, and that is ok. At times, I think the coverage of these 2 is oversaturating, BUT...... the coverage of Jessica Simspon, Paris Hilton and Linnsday Lohan is beyond as well, but look at the subject matter involved. Paris Hiltons herpes and Lindsay Lohan latest f*ck takes as much priority in the news as Brad flying to N.O. to help design building, and make a contrubution. That is so much more worth MY time then the other stuff, yet others just want gossip and do not really care for the world events. Everyone has thier own perception, but I like when people take the time out and actually can explain thier point of view, so I never think its a waste of time to speak your rational thoughts, ever, in any situation. As long as POP brings them up, i will keep talking. One more thing, of course , people tune into gossip sites over CNN at times because they want lighthearted news sometimes, but it really is scary that the entertainment news has become so shallow, but just as important as the world news. It actually scares me that most people can not name the vice president, yet they know every guy Paris hilton has slept with in the past 6 months.

Abd this is popsugar, where celebrities are fair game, whether you idolize them or not. Once again, you know nothing about me yet you post to me in a rather condescending manner.
Miguela Miguela 11 years
Padraigin, I'm speaking in general terms to anyone who prefers to see the negatives opposed to the positives, and on that point if the shoe fits. We make choices, and you choose to have continued concern with how they bring attention on the themselves, and I choose to have continued interest in how that attention is deflacted onto an issue that may not get the media's time without first making Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie the subject matter. It's that simple. It's no skin off my nose if they sell their childs photograph to the highest bidder with the proceeds being utilized for good instead of a paparazzi getting paid crazy money that will benefit only them. It's not my child, and if it were, I'd follow suit under the same circumstances. I have no issue with them using the one thing they have to barter with, and that's their celebrity, and knowing more than a few workers in the field, as well as those who have been blessed by those who can helping those who need it, they aren't the ones complaining one bit about anyone using what they got, to get what they need.
Padraigin Padraigin 11 years
Miguela, you don't know me or anyone here from a hole in the wall, so please don't talk about our "mindset". I'm not trying to change anyone's opinions, merely point out there there are DIFFERENT opinions and I am certainly entitled to my point of view. I certainly have no issue whatsoever with the charity work being done and seeing that someone is benefitting. However, these people are being painted as Mother Teresa and Padre Pio and they simply aren't. The media saturation is sickening, and sorry, selling your baby's pictures to the tabloids is just feeding the media frenzy. Having a press conference to announce how much money you're giving to the country that harbored you while you had your baby is feeding the media frenzy. These people aren't "victims" of the media, they are active participants and it wouldn't hurt them to learn a little modesty.
Miguela Miguela 11 years
Mar, this is one of those things where no matter what truths you convey, there are those who really don't care about that because they've a mindset that they don't desire to change. You preach to the choir for me, but I've been lurking a longtime, and I've learnt that it would matter what Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie did or didn't do, some have a cynisim about them that isn't going anywhere. Sad that one can't just look at the fact that no matter the reason some believe the couple separate or apart does the things they do, someone does benefit from it. Someone gets a lift in life that may have not come if not for whatever B and/or A chose to assist with. I think a person needs to question their own heart when it's more important for them to be a hinderance via their criticizm instead of a help via their being joyful someone got a leg up in this world because of an effort put forth that in reality didn't have to be forth.
mar mar 11 years
Padraigan- the things you have done sound great. You have to keep in mind, one of the reasons we are constantly hearing about Brad and AJ is because the media goes after them. People are literally obsessed with them, look at the baby coverage. Bono and Bob Geldof are not tabloid fixtures, and Bob Geldof is way more famous accross the pond, although they have doing so much for spo much longer then the people we are talking about. I think the media is too obseessed with AJ and brad, but I would rather see things like this then hear about Jessica Simpson. I applaud anyone that enjoys hepling others, it's awesome! Someone mentioned Marlo Thomas, I respect her so much, St. Judes is a beautiful thing, and Liz taylor has done so much for people living with AIDS. There is nothing wrong with being famous and having a cause, and all of the attention should be about the important things.
sophie sophie 11 years
Agree with the 'Padgaigin' comment. I might want to add that Brad & Ange could learn from grounded and highly humble people like Sir Bob Geldof and Bono who simply help but not say a word about what they actually do or how nice they are. It is about the people you help, and not about you and how smart and nice and holly you are. I mean, one should not go to Today's Show to tell the press how much money they give to whom - for a very simple fact that action should speak louder, and it does. Hope through time, they get the experience and become less self-promoting and more cause-promoting.
Padraigin Padraigin 11 years
Oh for crying out loud, you can certainly bring attention to charities when you're a celeb. Absolutely. You should use your fame for something worthwhile. And I "get it", trust me, I do. But there's a difference between bringing attention to a cause and tooting your own damned horn every chance you get. There's a difference between campaigning for a country and using the government and the inhabitants of that country for your own personal maternity ward. There's a difference between holding a benefit event for a charity and simply stating "we gave a million dollars to that one, and a million to that one, and aren't we just wonderful people?". Bob Geldof brough so much attention to the plight in Africa and to the need to eradicate hunger with Band Aid, Live Aid, Live 8, and Make Poverty History ( He mobilizes people and governments to DO something. He was given an honoroary knighthood from Queen Liz. Yet when I hear how much money he has personally contributed to his causes, it's not from him or his publicists, it's from other sources. And Bono, with his DATA charity work, it's the same thing. He mobilizes people and governments to do something, not try to be the lone savior of the world. In summation, I don't mind the charity works, I mind the constant self propagandizing that certain people do and how they manage to bilk people into believing how wonderful they are. Last year, I helped organize a benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina victims that raised over 20K. I'm involved in the UN's Millenium Development Goals education program (part of Cyber Schoolbus) that is designed to educate kids 5-18 on eradicating hunger, poverty, sickness, and improving education in third world nations. Please don't tell me I don't know anything about charity work. I know enough to know that the most important facet of charity work is education, not just slapping a three hundred thousand dollar bandaid on one small aspect of the problem and shouting it to the world. What Brad is doing is good. Rebuilding NOLA is important. I'm glad he's doing something for his country. Use this platform to EDUCATE people. But remember, in the grand scheme of charity, it's not about YOU, it's about THEM.

Thank you Brad for finally admitting that you are sick of yourself - as we all are, at least I am. You are a 40-something father now so good luck with aging gracefully. There is something I don't buy in all this Brangelina saga though (no matter how many people try to convince me.) That is, Brad's sudden and newly found humanitarianism. I don't think it is anything more than a self-promoting stunt. Some of you said Ange brought that out in him. Excuse my French but I say 'hell no' to that. Because I doubt hers as well, big time. New times, new games baby! That is simply my personal opinion so don't kill me please. You can continue to write how the two deserve some kind of sainthood though :)
