Britney Spears License Case Ruled a Mistrial!

After days of deliberation and even more additional time for both sides to argue their case this morning, the jury was unable to reach a verdict in Britney Spears's driving without a license case. The judge ruled the whole thing a mistrial when the jury came back still unable to reach a decision. Apparently 10 jurors voted not guilty while two were stuck on guilty. So the case is over for now and Britney is a free woman, though the prosecutors can try for another trial. While Britney understandably regrets letting it go to trial at all, at least for now we won't be seeing any mugshots from the pop princess for her ridiculous misdemeanor.

well i think that it's a good thing that she's not going to have to deal with that one anymore (anytime soon at least). she's really turned things around and i think that it's a sign that maybe it wasn't her fault that things went so wrong.

Another celeb skates by with no penalty. The court doesn't plan to retry, so the case is dismissed. Brian, lots of people face penalties for lesser crimes. Naomi Campbell has to do 200 hours of community service in a year for her airport tantrum, and she spent 5 days cleaning pubic grounds for throwing a cell phone at her assistant. Kiefer Sutherland spent 48 days in jail for his second dui with a probation violation, and that was without hitting anything or causing any property damage. Britney's lawyer claims, "She is a Louisiana girl - born there, lived here and going back there as soon as she gets things straightened out here." I'm dubious, since she shares custody in California. But only 16 more years until JJ is an adult.

You say that like she killed someone or put someone in the hospital. People are tired of people on drugs and drinking convictions getting off our out of their troubles. Britney's paid fines and court fees. It was a fender bender and she has a license so it's basically ridiculous if they would retry. They've made their point.

Yea, I know reality is such a bummer for the Brit crowd, but if they let her off on all charges, that's going to bite them at election time. People are fed up with celebs getting off so lightly and while it's not unusual to dismiss some charges on a multi-charge offense like this, people usually have to deal with at least some penalty. This was the lesser of the possible charges to press, so she's already gotten off on a lot. Britney could have avoided a trial by accepting the plea offered, and this would have quietly ended a long time ago. But she refused and said to take it to trial. That is the only reason this ever went to court. It's not about trying to make an example out of your princess Britney, she chose to have a trial. Everyone is entitled to a trial for their crimes.

Just noticed...I'm the second DOWNER besided Ginger and frankly...I'm proud of it! Maybe the people posting are 16 and don't know a thing about taxes, but ultimately it's frustrating to know your hard earned money is going towards this trial! It IS the tax payer who pays for this nonsense! And Creamy...YOU love her, not everyone...some do, some don't! "We"...not really appropriate :-)

Really...I despised Britney BEFORE and she's even worse now. My taxes paid for her stupid, ridiculous trial.

Shocking. Ginger is once again the only person with a downer view. Take an upper or something, so negative. :)

Unless they retry the case, creating a whole new trial. She was already let off on all the other charges from this incident, with the hit and run, so they might still press on the one remaining charge.
