yeah i lived in new york. you see celebrities all the time, but it's just understood that you leave them alone and let them go about their business... it's kind of surreal like that...

LOL Molly! Pastis is on a corner in a pretty quiet block, which doesn't usually have a lot of people around. The only time I EVER see people around there is Sunday morning for brunch.

Man if i were rich like cam i would do exactly what she does. I would surf all day and hang out with my friends. I would only work when i want to with good directors. Life is beautiful :) She's got it right in the head!

You can always tell an out of towner by how they react to someone famous they pass on the street. We New Yorkers take pride in leaving the celebrities alone. I see celebs all the time, but they do tend to just blend into the crowd here. So if you're not really looking at the people you're passing, you'll walk right by them. And the meatpacking district, for those who don't know this, really is a meatpacking district. The trendy shops and restaurants are right across the street from where the guys in white aprons are flinging meat into the back of trucks. That's why it's the hot place to be at night!

As for the MPD being empty - midday a lot of the streets are fairly empty except in the summer.

When I lived in NY I saw celebs all the time. But, there never was a crowd of paps following them and trying to take their picture. It was as if any other person was walking down the street. We can be pretty self absorbed and indifferent. It is an unwritten rule not to make eye contact. So by the time you realize you just saw SJP she is already around the corner.

I live in Manhattan - have nearly all my life. Basically, no one goes celeb hunting around here and there are less paps - because there are more places to go and hide out from the press in Manhattan. I see celebs alot, but usually the cool ones who hang out in the same little clubs and halls I do.

LaLaLaurie06, You live here and you don’t see celebrities in the Mid-town Manhattan from 55th to 57th Streets East to West, 6th Avenue(whoever is hosting SNL, you will seen on 50th & 6th Ave) Central Park & CP Zoo( ALL celebrities with kids hang out there) Soho, Tribeca and the Upper Westside and UpperEastside.

I live in NYC and it really depends on what area you live in. I wouldn't be caught dead around Times Square. It's SO over populated with people. That's why you don't EVER see celebrities there. I'm a meat packing district girl myself...the crowds in that neighborhood are much nicer...relaxed...and they don't give a crap if a celebrity is walking around. have you guys noticed there seems to be FAR less celebrity sightings in Manhattan as opposed to LA? At least there seems to be less paparazzi than LA.

she actually looks cute (new facialist?) but i wish she would have a) worn some skinner jeans, or b) not tucked those in.

I agree about Celeb Manhattan Bizarro World. I live here and have only seen Jordan Knight in the same diner as me. When do these people come out? There must be some brick wall that they run into Harry Potter style that takes them to an emptier celeb- and paparazzi- only NYC.

lesjaka, I mean, I totally understand that about the meatpacking (though there is good shopping these days). It's just, in my humble experience of the city, it's fair to say that it's decently crowded, especially in trendy areas. I just always find it fairly amusing that pictures of celebs in NY make it look deserted.

Molly, most people go to the meat packing district at night for the clubs and restaurants. Yes, that is a bike. There are condominiums in the area so you better have a high-paying job to live in that area( so get to work; not standing around watching Cameron). New Yorkers are not impress with celebrities (unless they from NYC or live in NYC, then they get mad love) so Cameron better not touch that bike for the owner will sue her.
