March 31 marked the 23rd anniversary of Selena Quintanilla's tragic death [2], and her loved ones are making sure her memory lives on forever. On Saturday, Selena's husband [3], Chris Pérez, posted a throwback photo of him and Selena when they were teenagers on Instagram. "Although we all have our trials and tribulations that we have to go through in this life . . . we MUST be thankful for the ones that we meet along the way . . . that made us realize . . . love is REAL," Chris captioned it. "Love is UNCONDITIONAL . . . love NEVER DIES. #MyCoco."
Selena and Chris first met [5] back in 1990 when he became a guitarist in her band Los Dinos. Even though Selena's dad Abraham didn't initially approve of their romance, they secretly eloped in April 1992. Sadly, Chris became a widower three years later when Selena was murdered by fan club manager Yolanda Saldívar. Chris eventually remarried a woman named Vanessa Villanueva in 2001, and they had two children, daughter Cassie and son Noah. However, they divorced in 2008.
