Christian Bale Apologizes For His Rant on the Set of Terminator

Christian Bale's Apology — Forgiven or Too Little Too Late?

ICYMI, earlier this week a recording leaked of Christian Bale going off on a profanity-laced rant at one of the Terminator crew members back when the movie was being filmed. Since then plenty of people have thrown in their two cents on the rant — both defending and reprimanding — and there have been remixes and mash ups all over the Internet.

Today, Christian himself called into the Kevin & Bean LA morning radio show to issue an apology. He takes full responsibility for his actions, calling himself a punk and his behavior inexcusable and even saying that he deserves to be made fun of. He sounds surprisingly modest and has a lot to say, quite honestly, on the matter.

Listen to the clip here and tell us — do you forgive Christian Bale?

He wasn't talking to me...he should apologize the the guy and his family. Quoted for agreement.

I dont pity the DP guy but I pity Bale and his blind followers. He has more than anger problems and because some of you tolerate this this only gives the abusers more power to do it again and again. Bale is just asking for a Chris Brown crisis in his life or even worst. His ego is such a turn off just because TDK was so big at the box office and its being recognized by many awards. Truthfully he owes it more to HL because without the Joker the movie was nothing. Im not wasting my money on this guy.

Bale needs more than counselling he needs a shrink. A true professional does not behave this way. I have little respect for people that justify this kind of outburst and this is the reason our society is at its lowest.

^ oh, i know that sounded random! sorry, i guess what i really meant to say is that you guys would freak out if you were in Korea, because CB's rant is totally nothing to me, and probably because of my upbringing. we don't coddle anyone

man, oh man. i grew up where yelling is totally normal. the whole nation of korea is full of ranting people. (ok, that's serious generalization, but that's my experience!) bosses yell at their subordinates, teachers yell at students, parents yell at kids, friends yell at friends. hurling mean insults and stuff. sometimes even as "endearing jokes." christian bale's rant is small potatoes. ha! maybe he's korean! again, this is not all korean people, but koreans have a stereotype for having bad tempers :o

Seems he's worked stuff out with the actual guy months ago. I think it's good that he apologised personally and publicly though. I'm leaning towards the: he's method, he was likely tired and channelling a character of intensity at the time. In the same situation, if that was me, if I'd had little sleep and someone was messing me about by doing something they'd already been told not to do, when I probably wanted to put something in the can - I'd go a little loopy too. I'd definitely snap at them - certainly not for four minutes of expletives but they'd surely get a piece of my mind. All I'd hope is that he personally looks into his anger - where it's coming from and where it's going. He doesn't have to make a pageant out of it - just do it for himself.

I don't think he needs our forgiveness. He did what he did while doing his job and its got nothing to do with us. I hope he apologized to the people on set though. He's seems like a great guy and we know he's an amazing actor, so I say, lets just let this go.

I agree with Popdiva - since when is it up to US to forgive him? Getting a bit ahead of yourselves here again popsugar...

You know who should be apologizing? The person who SOLD the tape of the incident in the first place. People cashing in on something like this makes me very irritated. I'm not weighing in on the actual blow up matter as all those involved seemed to have been adults about the situation, resolved things and moved on...why should any of the rest of us care one way or the other six months later? Because TMZ tells us we should? Actors are human *gasp* I think we need to drop this asap and let everyone involved get on with their lives and stop judging either way on something we weren't involved with.

Its the same person in different aliases voting for Bale. Its called respect and reverence for life which is very little these days. Some think its funny and cool when its not. They are mentality of kids, bad upbringing, hostility. Christian Bale is just asking for trouble.

Would he have apologized if the rant was not broadcasted all over the place? The apology sounded sincere, but I don't think I can see one of his movies without thinking about it, which is too bad cause I really liked him.

I didn't vote or listen to his apology, because it's not my place to forgive him or care about the situation. This was a while back and he apologized to the man and the crew after the incident happened, so that should be the end of it. That original audio of Christian cursing at that man should have never been released to the public. Yes, it's wrong to yell at anyone on your set like that because it's disrepectful. But again, this is their situation....just let it go already since the only people that know the WHOLE true story, were on the actual production set that day.

I agree though, about him learning to check his anger.

All you ladies who are "forgiving" him because he's cute are just plain silly. It's just plain awful that someone uses his "art" and "method" to abuse another pro - DPs are nominated for Oscars, too and it's a small community. Also, the incident with his mum/sister gives me pause and he also has a wife and child. We all love an apology in this country, but that's not what he owes anyone. He should just clean up his act or go the way of Russell effing Crowe. "Oh, I think he's dreamy, so it's okay!" Yes, what if he was your boyfriend or husband. I think he's an enormous talent and it is regrettable.

I agree, he is sorry because he was caught. It is enough to make me avoid any of his movies. Just disgusting!

LOL, I meant "(No, we haven't)" not "(know, we haven't)"

Of course he made an apology, how could he not? It’s out there for the world to see AND he’s got a movie coming out. I'm not the one that needs the apology. I've never been a fan in the least, the only movie I've seen is Batman and didn't think he lent much to it, to be honest (not being mean, just honest). The lame part about his apology, though, is that while he did share with the world how much he regretted it, he still made excuses for it. So, you know….whatever. It really seems like the guy needs help because he has a wife and child that could come face to face with one of his so-called “bad days". And if there was no one there to hold him back, could he take it further? It’s called self control and it only takes one time letting go of it to this extent to ruin everything. The only thing hurt right now is his pride and image, but if it is allowed to go unchecked and it continues to be excused, it could eventually turn out worse. What I find disappointing is that people actually blow it off and claim "everybody's done it" (know, we haven't) and "everybody's had a bad day" (it wasn't about the bad day, it was his response...abusers have bad days pretty regularly...are they justified in how they deal with it? Uh, no.) I'd say if we got this little bit of smoke, there's fire burning underneath.

I SMELL PUBLICITY STUNT because during the super bowel only 2 movies made a big impact and that was transformers 2 and G.I joe. i think terminator salvation will be a flop because it has no arnie in it and christian bale is an overatted actor who was crap in the bat man films he mumbles too much in the films
sidra5397 sidra5397 8 years
We're not the ones who require an apology. From what he's said he's already taken care of his apology to that other man privately. The only reason he had to make a public statement is because something private that happened between them, and was resolved between them, became public. I don't think it was a classy way to speak to someone but I'm not going to hold a private matter that was resolved long before the tape became public over him.

You're right kristy..he's sorry because he got caught on tape. I remember some of you members standing behind him last year when he was arrested for assaulting his mom and sister. Almost ALL of you were saying how his family just wanted money from him and he was too nice of a guy to ever do anything like that. I was one of the few who said, we don't know what this guy is like in real life..we don't know what makes him crack..obviously we know now. And YES this guy needs therapy. I can't believe there are some of you who are still standing behind him saying "Oh I get made too, I understand" LOL THAT'S BULLSHEIT! If someone started screaming at me like that and people had to hold back someone from hitting me at work, you can believe that person would be FIRED on the spot. HE was uncontrollable and for what? FOR NOTHING! It wasn't a matter of life or was a freaking movie scene. he's a jerk and proved his true colors. I pity his wife to have to live with someone so hot tempered. He's got serious problems and the people who think this is Ok and a normal way to behave have some majot problems themselves.

I heard the tirade earlier this year. I think it's inappropriate to lose your temper like that on any job site. However, who knows what was going on the set to cause the blowup. So long as he and the crew worked things out, it should not have baring on the movie. And so long as he doesn't speak to his family that way....

Oh, give me an effing break! People joining Popsugar with multiple IDs just to defend this prick. For those who are wondering why the tape was leaked now -- it had been released by the time this happened nobody would give a sh*t since this happened around the time Dark Knight was achieving the "super hit of the summer" status. And Shane Hurlburt (the Director of Photography) who is in the movie business just as long as Bale himself, DID NOT walk into the scene. He merely walked into Bale's line of sight. That is considered distracting but not a big deal. And even if he had walked into the scene there was no reason for Bale to go ballistic on him like that. Bale acted like a jerk and only apologized because it was caught on tape. Get over it.

in no way was his rant appropriate, but people make mistakes. he is obviously very sorry about it and it's not as if he's making excuses for his behavior. he acknowledges that he had no right to verbally abuse this shane guy and he's apologized and he regrets it. people make mistakes and as long as they learn from them and don't repeat those mistakes, they should be forgiven.
