Dove is Real

We love a great ad campaign and kudos to Dove for making us ladies feel better about ourselves. Their latest ad shows the evolution of a commercial and proves how distorted our perception of beauty is in our world. Watch how they take an average looking woman and make her model like. Imagine if they used a celebrity. Check out one of our favorite Dove products here.

Yet another way of them to sell their products. There is no concern for anyone's self esteem there..all they have in their minds is $$$$$

This is a great commercial, very emotional and insightful. But I hate their posters of fat women. I guess it does make me feel better about myself, but I would rather not see under-dressed fats popping out-- mine or others!!

I love the brand dove and that commercial. they've alwayz been promoting a woman's natural beauty, it has a good message, but sadly i dont think it will change anyone's idea on what beautiful is.

Jen, I'm fairly certain that Dove and Unilever especially were on the watchlists for all the environmental groups, esp PETA. The products also contain (or did, I haven't go any to read the labels) the chemicals found to cause cancers. When my friends moms' cancer returned they cleaned all these products out of their homes and sent everybody lists of all the questionable chemicals used in our beauty products, even the ones that say "organic". You don't want to know what is in most of them. Due to the pressures from watch groups they may have changed their policies. I'm not an advocate conspiracy theorist, these are just things people have sent or told me.

Dove and Unilever share your concern over this important matter and we are committed to the elimination of animal testing. We do NOT test any of our home or personal care products on animals. We will continue to work for alternative methods by participating in industry and scientific programs as well as to support legislation that promotes the elimination of animal testing. From Dove's web site. Emphasis added. Out of curiousity, those of you who are saying they DO animal testing...where are you getting that info?

When they were editing her on the computer, they used Adobe Photoshop, but regular Photoshop doesn't come with most of those have to buy retouching brushes and tools as extras., amazing commercial. Whoever came up with this concept is genius.

Okay so I am abroad for work and have been unable to see this commercial. I LOVE Dove. I have started using their product more since the ad campaign started. I don't have a problem with the fact that the original ad was for firming cream, the ad campaign is ingenious, I knew that they did work on a photo but that is crazy! My friend was in LA and got made up by a professional make up artist (friend of a friend she was visiting) and how they can change your appearance with the right make up is crazy, but photo shop, no way can I look like a photo shop picture. What I want to someone to teach me how to do make up like that, she looked great with just the makeup changed.

OH ... *applaudes*... amazing work Dove. Honestly. After watching that. I felt so much better for some reason. I wish this could be an Ad on TV so my partner can watch it.

Ha ha ha, is it wrong that I was trying to pay close attention to what they did with Photoshop so I can do it to my own pictures? :P

I saw this on Felice's blog last week and it gave me chills. I love Dove's ad campaign. It has motivated me to use a lot of their products, and I actually like them. Yay for that!

Like this idea and all, but the original ads WERE for firming/cellulite cream. Mixed messages much? And the animal testing, etc...don't say much for the company either.

The first time I saw this I thought she looked pretty from the start. After seeing the finished version every time the commercial comes on I question whether or not she's really pretty in the beginning. Clearly my perception of beauty is easily altered. I'm glad this commercial actually made me think about that.
