Fall TV Preview: The Class and How I Met Your Mother

It seems like with every season there is a new Friends ripoff. The Class, premiering on CBS tonight at 8/7c, is one of those. The premise is that idealistic pediatrician, Ethan (played by John Ritter's son, Jason), plans a surprise party for his fiance to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the day they first met in third grade. The surprise is that Ethan actually gathers all of the members of their third grade class together for the party. His fiance is less than thrilled and bolts while the misfit crowd of former classmates remains to rekindle their long lost friendships. The class includes every stereotype imaginable. Luckily for CBS, How I Met Your Mother is on right after.

The weak premise and the unlovable characters of The Class mean that we probably won't be tuning in, but we will for sure be tuning in to last year's newcomer and far superior Friends-esque show, How I Met Your Mother. The new season starts up right after The Class on CBS at 8:30/7:30c. We can't wait to find out if Marshall and Lily get back together and continue their wedding plans and if Ted and Robin can finally make it work this time. And of course, then there is Barney. Got to love Barney!

Buffy, wow..I'm definetly aware of why he's doing it I just think it would be funnier if that wasn't the premise..if it was just a show about them and their love lives, etc.

He's talking to the kids at the beginning of some shows because thats the whole point of the show "How I met your Mother", he's telling the kids the story of how he met their Mum.

I like How I Met Your Mother, I just think the premise is a little awkward, how some episodes like Bob Saget is talking to his kids at the begginig. I think that's stupid, but the show overall is funny. I'm more excitied for Two and a Half Men. I love that show.

ha I just accidentally fell into a massive spoiler! I'm in Oz and season 1 of How I met your Mother isn't finished here. I didn't know Marshall and Lily break up :(

I like How I Met Your Mother. It's really funny, but I also don't get upset if I miss an episode. The Office, on the other hand, I cannot miss! I think the Class looks really weak.

From the pic it looks like they too have managed to not have any minorities in their class, like friends.

They should just spin off the Barney character into his own show.

It does seem like they're trying to copy Friends.. There's nothing like the real thing!
