Glenn Ford Goes Free From Death Row

After 30 Years in Prison, Glenn Ford Walks Free From Death Row

When Glenn Ford entered prison, his sons were babies. Now, they have children of their own. Glenn was Louisiana's longest-serving death-row inmate until he was released this week. After an all-white jury convicted him in 1984, he spent three decades behind bars for a murder he did not commit and was eventually exonerated after new information came to light. When asked by CNN outside the prison if he felt resentful, he gave the only answer you could reasonably expect: "Yeah, because I was locked up almost 30 years for something I didn't do." Watch him moments after he gained his freedom. As for compensation, under Louisiana law, he will get $25,000 per year up to $250,000 and $80,000 for loss of "life opportunities."
