Princess Diana may not have been able to witness [2] Prince Harry tie the knot with Meghan Markle [3] on Saturday, but something tells us she was there in spirit. Not only did Harry and Meghan follow in her footsteps by making a slight tweak to their wedding vows [4], but there were reports that Harry also honored his late mom [5] by leaving an empty seat open [6] next to Prince William during the ceremony at St. George's Chapel.
Unfortunately it turns out that wasn't true. According to People, the empty seat was left open for Queen Elizabeth [7] so that she could have "a clear view of the proceedings from the second row." Harry did, however, invite Diana's siblings to the ceremony [8] as another sweet tribute to his mother.
Diana's sister Lady Jane Fellowes also gave a special reading from the Song of Solomon during the ceremony. In a previous statement from Kensington Palace [9], Harry and Meghan said they felt honored that Lady Jane would be "representing her family and helping to celebrate the memory of the late Princess on the wedding day." Aw!
