It was family day for Jennifer Hudson [1] at the March of Dimes Celebration of Babies in LA on Friday afternoon. The singer was joined by fiancé David Otunga and their adorable 7-year-old son, David Jr., at the event, which also brought out pals Kelly Rowland [2] and Nick Cannon. Jennifer stunned in a gorgeous plum dress and was honored inside with the Grace Kelly Award for her commitment to helping families [3] and giving all babies the healthiest start in life.
Jennifer got emotional while accepting her award, telling the audience, "I'm not a speaker, but I am a mother. It is so hard — no matter what you are going through in life — to be able to see from someone else's perspective . . . I'm so grateful for this opportunity because it taught me about premature births and what families go through. Going to the NICU (neonatal intensive care units) and seeing their situations . . . it just took my heart under and through." Jennifer's latest appearance comes a week after she and David Jr. attended the LA premiere of Sing together [4].
