Jessica Alba's New Declare Yourself Ad in Hannibal Lechter Muzzle

Jessica Alba's New "Muzzler" Declare Yourself Ad — Scary or Effective?

If you thought Jessica Alba's last Declare Yourself ad was intense, check out the newest image in the campaign. Taken by photographer David LaChapelle, the ad features Jessica wearing a Hannibal Lechter-esque device called "The Muzzler" to represent silencing yourself when you don't vote. The provocative photo is hard to look at, but will get people talking. So what do you think of Jessica Alba's new ad — scary or effective?

I love it! What a provocative way to show people what it means to not vote!

maldelus, what do you mean by people of her "persuasion"?

"Stupid" should have been an option, seriously this is lame and makes the point that celebs should just stay out of politics ... and i was never one of those who was against all the celebs being vocal about their support - but really this is just awful.

I am SO tired of these people telling me to vote! I am registered. I vote. And everyday I walk down the street to my office and I am asked three times by people with clipboards if I am registered to vote at my current address (always three times within that one block). I have long, long election- and voting-related messages on my answering machine every day, flyers on my door, people knocking at the door, and this has happened every day since about March. It's enough to drive you absolutely mad. I wish the only voting gripe I had these days was whether Hollywood bimbos should be in tacky overstyled voting ads.

Mykie7 already said what I was thinking...
totally effective. this image doesn't scare me. it portrays a metaphor for what you're doing by not speaking out

They could have at least used an appealing actor.

totally scary...and she doesn't even have a realistic facial expression

I think they meant fr this to look masochistic, by not voting your silencing yourself= self mutilation. It didn't work this looks very sadistic and scary.

Now this ad is SCARY. The other one wasn't that bad. David LaChapelle always does provocative, sexual ads though so this is nothing new from him. You should see the one where a horse nuzzles Angelina on her breasts - while she's topless :oy:

These ads are creepy. And this one is even creepier than the first one.

I don't like it. I wonder if these adds really get anyone to say to themselves "OK, I think I'll go vote".

"when i saw the picture i thought it was a campaign against physical abuse towards women." Yeah. Unless you know what it's about already it's not terribly effective. If there is even any explanation, it's too tiny to read in the ad.

That ad is so stupid I just can not stand Jessica Alba. Something about her is so fuc**** ANNOYING!! I have NEVER liked that B*tch or her movies. She is my least favorite celeb. Especially doing retarted ass stuff like this ad.

It's effective enough, and cool...but since when does anyone care about what Jessica Alba says? Still, annoying or not, everyone's voice should be heard. You'd all better rock the vote!

I think that's effective! It's an incredible add! I really like it and you really can understand the message of this add!

Agree w/ adrianaaa-- it's more like a violence against women campaign.

That muzzle doesn't even look real--just like it was Photoshopped in. If celebs want to get people to vote why don't they put their feet on the ground and volunteer for voting registration drives? Or donate to fund them?
