Moonlight swept the Spirit Awards in Santa Monica on Saturday, but one of the early highlights of the evening was when film editors Joi McMillon and Nat Sanders accepted the award for best editing for their work in the film. Joi made history by becoming the first black woman to win for best editing at the ceremony, and to make matters even better, she's also nominated for an Oscar [1] on Sunday. If Joi wins, she will make history again as the first black woman to win a best editing Oscar. We're rooting for you, Joi!
