On Tuesday, the 58-year-old Veep actress stopped by Good Morning America [3] and opened up about how the support from her family, friends, and fans helped her get through [4] the tough experience. "I reached a lot of people. I was able to raise a lot of money for women who have had mastectomies, who need reconstruction but insurance doesn't cover that, and I was really happy to be able to do that. The outpouring of support was quite overwhelming," Julia said. "It helped me get through chemotherapy in a big way."

Julia first went public with her cancer diagnosis [5] in September 2017, and she's used her personal experience to speak out about the importance of affordable and accessible healthcare [6]. "Healthcare should be for all — I believed it before, but now I really believe it," Julia stated during an October 2018 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! [7].
