Kristen Stewart [1] has been busy promoting her upcoming stoner comedy American Ultra recently, and in addition to some hilarious late-night show stops [2] and a thought-provoking Funny or Die interview with her costar Jesse Eisenberg [3], Kristen is also covering the September issue of Nylon magazine [4] — and getting candid about her sexuality.
The actress's much buzzed-about dating life has been a mainstay since her relationship with Robert Pattinson [5] ended in 2012, and especially since she was spotted with her current love, Alicia Cargile, late last year [6]. In her Nylon interview, Kristen opens up about her sexual preferences and makes it clear that though she may not be confirming her romance, she isn't hiding anything, either: "Google me, I'm not hiding," she said, adding, "I think in three or four years, there are going to be a whole lot more people who don't think it's necessary to figure out if you're gay or straight. It's like, just do your thing." Keep reading for more of Kristen's eye-opening quotes.
- On how she views herself: "If you feel like you really want to define yourself, and you have the ability to articulate those parameters and that in itself defines you, then do it. But I am an actress, man. I live in the f*cking ambiguity of this life and I love it."
- On not defining her sexuality: "I don't feel like it would be true for me to be like, 'I'm coming out!' No, I do a job. Until I decide that I'm starting a foundation or that I have some perspective or opinion that other people should be receiving . . . I don't. I’m just a kid making movies."
- On the future of gender fluidity: "I think in three or four years, there are going to be a whole lot more people who don’t think it’s necessary to figure out if you’re gay or straight. It’s like, just do your thing."
- On confirming her sexual preferences: "Google me, I’m not hiding."
- On her perceived personality: "It’s like I’m involved in a weekly comic book. I have this assigned personality . . . which I helped create, I suppose. People stand to make a lot of money on people like me— it’s this booming industry, so why would you go and change the character that people are paying for?"
- On dealing with photographers and media: "It’s funny when older actors are like, 'Just give them a smile.' I’m like, 'You have no idea what you’re talking about, but thanks!’' It must’ve been awesome without the Internet."
