After meeting Caitlyn Jenner for the first time on July 18 [1] at a private screening of her upcoming docuseries, I Am Cait, Laverne Cox is opening up about the pair's beautiful new friendship. During an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Monday, the Orange Is the New Black [2] star told the host that she's extremely proud of Caitlyn for going through her transition so publicly. Laverne, who spoke to Caitlyn shortly after her inspiring ESPYs speech [3], also opened up about how different Caitlyn's transition is to what she went through in her 20s. "She's such a sweet woman, loves her family . . . and just thinking about the paparazzi life that she has, I don't want that life," Laverne said. "What I think is so beautiful about this — my visibility and Caitlyn's visibility — is that diverse representations of trans people in the media I think are so important."
